Everyday entropy: patience

We Are Gonna Miss Him

Patience is not about waiting.  Patience is an appreciation for the evolution of the present without regard to the resolution of the future.  Being patient is not the same as being good at waiting, because a patient person isn’t waiting for anything.  Only impatient people wait.  Unlike information, physical entropy does not evolve in steps, from one block of spacetime to the next.  Patience is related to entropy in the same way that information is related to waiting.  Waiting assumes that you know what is going to happen.  Patience comes with the belief that anything can happen, within reason.
